SCHEC set to celebrate Red Ribbon Week October 23-30 is Red Ribbon Week.
Red Ribbon week will kick off in Scott County on Friday, October 23. Judge James Forbes will kick off the week at the Middle school with a proclamation and a challenge for middle and high school students to participate in a banner contest. The banners will be displayed at the home football game, October 30.
Mayor Randy Butler will kick off the week at the elementary with a proclamation on Monday, October 26. The elementary has many activities planned for the week. SCHEC will provide t-shirts with an underage drinking prevention message for a drawing each day. Students will bring back completeed community perception surveys and get their name in the drawing.
The week will be wrapped up on Monday, November 2 with a Town Hall Meeting, "Are You Smarter Than a Middle Schooler" at the middle school cafeteria.
Brooks Thompson was recently hired as SCHEC's new project assistant. In addition to working at SCHEC, Brooke is attending Rich Mountain Community College with the goal of one day being an elementary counselor. Brooke is very excited about her new position and SCHEC is glad to have her on board! Welcome to SCHEC Brooke!

SAVE THE DATE Community Town Hall Meeting. The 2nd annual "Are You Smarter Than a Middle Schooler?" Town Hall Meeting will be Monday, November 2. The time for the evening will be 5:30-7:00 pm at the Middle School. A free BBQ dinner will be served to everyone that attends! Door prizes will be given out all night! The whole community is invited to attend! Watch for more details to come!
BADD News The Bulldogs Against Destructive Decisions (BADD) will be making their debut project at the Homecoming Game with a banner. BADD will be doing a Media Campaign called "Social Norms" in the community. The students will be letting other students know that a majority of them are NOT drinking. The students are also applying to attend the National CADCA Forum in Washinton D.C. in February. 2 students from BADD will be chosen by way of application process to attend at the end of the month.
